Welcome to the John Ngugi
Foundation,(JNF) a sports organization founded to identify, mold &
propel sports talented young people towards achieving their sporting
dreams. It is a foundation headed by A team that believes in the
powerful universal omnipresence of sports; founded by a man who
dreamt, and then became: an admired name in the world of athletics.
John Ngugi is a
cross Country Legend; the slender long legged Kenyan boy who became
a Global Long Distance phenomenon. He took the Athletics world by
storm, powering his way through mud, dust and snow in elite race
tracks across Europe, USA and Africa, smashing world records and
setting others in a blistering racing blitz that ironically, and
regretably so, lasted only slightly over five years. While a lot of
effort has gone down in setting the
record straight about his controversial, perhaps
premature exit from the sports Arena, Ngugi, now in active
retirement immortalized his place in the Guiness book of world
records as the first man on the planet to win the IAAF World Cross
Country Championship Five times. He also won the 5000M Gold during
the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
John Ngugi Foundation (JNF) is an
organisation founded by this great Kenyan Athlete to carry on his
dream; of moulding young, gifted sportsmen into world champions. JNF
motto is go the
Distance- We will challenge, encourage and assist
those who believe in the power of their sporting dream to go flat
out and be all they can be in the world sports arena. The founder’s
record is remarkable: it is yet to be surpassed, one and a half
decades since it was cast in glittering gold medallions. At JNF we
want to look at it as a glass ceiling, and work towards the day that
another hero will come along and surpass it. We hope that from
whichever corner of the world this track king or queen will come,
they will be a prodigy from our foundation, inspired and roared on
by Ngugi’s achievements. And we are confident that this day will
come...
